End of Summer

I don’t think I can fully express how much I love summer. The summers here in Illinois are very pleasant. I mean, it’s gotten hot up here, but not the intolerable humid heat hot that takes place in Louisiana.

That’s why I’m sad that it is already August.

I know I haven’t updated this thing in a while, and I’m pathetic to report it hasn’t been because I’m out doing great things. Since I last updated my blog, I’ve visited Chicago, went home to LA for my birthday, went on a summer vacation to Gulf Shores and a cruise with my boyfriend’s family, and I’m about to go to a water park for the first time in my life. But I’ve done those things in like four months, so it’s not impressive. At all.

August means school’s about to start, which as an education reporter I am both excited and uneasy. I’ve been at my first professional job for just over a year now (this week), and I will thus begin covering the same stuff events I covered last year. It was so exciting to tackle school issues last year, but now comes the challenge of readdressing similar stories and finding new ways to tell them. I both like and hate that, because I’m scared I won’t do it well.

But just as long as there aren’t any strikes, I think I’ll be ok.
